Hop the RIPA
Style: Red India Pale Ale
ABV: 7.2% IBU: 92
Description: This Red IPA is a true differentiator for Helm’s Brewing Company. Taking the base malt bill of a classic Irish Red Ale, we add tons of hops to give you the best of both worlds. The hop characteristics in this beer bring out a mixture of fruity, citrusy and earthy flavors. The strong malt presence is the backbone of this beer and brings out many different stages during a pint. Aroma up front, strong Irish malt in the middle, followed by the refreshing notes of hops on the back-end.
Food Pairings: BBQ, Sharp American Cheddar, Carrot Cake
Reviews: “Lovely ruby-tinted amber color with a decent foam in the Affligem chalice. Sweet and fragrant. There is a bitter finish, but only after the mellow malt and roasted barley flavors. Pleasing honeysuckle aroma. Major caramel flavors but a woodsy, earthy hop note lurks.” – mactrail (BeerAdvocate)
“22 oz bottle poured in my hotel room (purchased at the brewery). Pours reddish brown with a beige head; good lacing. Smells like pine and cascade hops (I think). Taste is bitter. It gets its name honestly. Hops for days. Good beer.” – ryanhunter_4 (RateBeer)
